How long to reach a goal

At the most likely rate, in Technology.

YouTube pays per view through ads, so your niche, your viewers' country and the video type set the rate. With US viewers we estimate $0.30 to $12 per 1,000 long video views.

How Much Does YouTube Pay Per View?

There is no flat rate. You earn a share of what advertisers pay for ads on your videos. A view pays more when advertisers want that viewer.

On long videos you keep 55% of the ad money and YouTube keeps 45%. Views with no ad pay nothing, so your pay per view is lower than what advertisers pay.

Per view

About $0.0003 to $0.012 with US viewers in our estimates, by niche.

Your share

55% of the ad money on long videos, 45% of your share on Shorts.

Where viewers live

A view from Norway is worth about 19 times one from Pakistan in our estimates.

YouTube RPM by Niche in

RPM is what you earn per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and the views with no ad. These are our estimates for long videos with US viewers.

Niche Range Most likely
Finance and Investing$4.54 to $12.10$7.56
Insurance$3.63 to $10.59$6.66
Real Estate$3.03 to $9.68$6.05
Technology$2.42 to $7.56$4.54

Health and Fitness$1.21 to $4.84$2.72
Travel$0.91 to $4.24$2.42
Automotive$0.91 to $3.93$2.12
Food and Cooking$0.91 to $3.63$2.12

Lifestyle and Vlogs$0.61 to $2.72$1.51
Entertainment$0.61 to $2.42$1.21
Music$0.30 to $1.82$0.91
Gaming$0.30 to $1.51$0.91

Pick another country in the calculator to see its rates. Finance, insurance and real estate pay most because one customer is worth a lot to those advertisers.

Gaming, music and entertainment pay least per view. They often get far more views, which can make up the gap.

YouTube Shorts vs Regular Videos: Revenue Comparison

Shorts earn far less per view. Our estimate for US viewers is about $0.01 to $0.40 per 1,000 Shorts views, against $0.30 to $12 on long videos.

YouTube pools the money from ads shown between Shorts and shares it by views. You keep 45% of your share, against 55% on long videos.

Use both. Shorts bring new people to your channel, and long videos are where each view pays more.

How to Increase Your YouTube Revenue Per View

  1. Make more of the topics advertisers pay for

If your channel covers several topics, make more of the ones that pay best, like finance, technology or education.

  2. Reach viewers in higher paying countries

Advertisers pay most to reach viewers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and northern Europe.

  3. Make videos 8 minutes or longer

Videos 8 minutes or longer can show ads in the middle, not only at the start.

  4. Earn beyond ads

Add YouTube brand sponsorship rates, memberships and merchandise, so your income does not hang on ad rates alone.

  5. Keep people watching

Viewers who stay longer see more ads. See how you are doing with our YouTube watch time calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What creators ask most about YouTube pay per view.

How much does YouTube pay per view in 2026?

Our estimate is about $0.0003 to $0.012 a view with US viewers, depending on the niche. Finance pays the most, gaming and music the least. YouTube publishes no set rate, so every channel differs.

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?

With US viewers, our estimates run from about $0.30 to $12 per 1,000 views, which YouTube calls RPM. Finance and insurance sit at the top, gaming and music at the bottom. Most other countries pay less.

How much does YouTube pay for 1 million views?

With US viewers, about $300 to $12,000 in our estimates. The most likely figure runs from about $900 for gaming to about $7,600 for finance.

Why do YouTube earnings vary so much by niche?

Advertisers pay different rates to reach different viewers. Finance, insurance and real estate viewers are worth more because they are likely to make big purchases. Gaming and entertainment viewers buy less, so advertisers pay less.

How much do YouTube Shorts pay per view?

Far less than long videos. Our estimate for US viewers is about $0.01 to $0.40 per 1,000 Shorts views. YouTube pools the money from ads shown between Shorts, shares it by views, and you keep 45% of your share.

Does the country of my viewers affect YouTube revenue?

Yes, a lot. In our estimates a view from Norway is worth about 19 times a view from Pakistan, because advertisers pay more to reach viewers in some countries.

What is RPM and how is it different from CPM?

CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ads, before YouTube takes its share. RPM is what you earn per 1,000 views, after that share, counting every view, even ones with no ad. So RPM is lower than CPM.

How long does it take to earn $1,000 on YouTube?

It depends on your niche, viewers and views. At 5,000 views a day from the US, a finance channel could get there in about a month, a gaming channel in about 7 months. Use the goal card with your own views a day.

Does YouTube pay for views from non-monetized videos?

No. YouTube pays only on videos that show ads, inside its Partner Program. That needs 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. YouTube has announced that channels applying from February 1, 2027 will need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views.

Is this YouTube revenue calculator accurate?

It is an estimate, never a promise. It uses industry-average ad rates by niche and country and shows a low to high range. Your real figure is in YouTube Studio, in Analytics on the Revenue tab, as RPM.

How much does YouTube pay per view in India?

About $0.03 to $1.21 per 1,000 views in our estimates, roughly a tenth of US rates. That is about $0.00003 to $0.0012 a view, with finance, insurance and real estate at the top.

How much does YouTube pay per view in the UK?

About $0.27 to $10.89 per 1,000 views in our estimates, roughly 90% of US rates. That is about $0.0003 to $0.011 a view, depending on your niche.
