How much money can you make on YouTube?
Most creators earn from under $1 to about $20 for every 1,000 views from ads. At 100,000 views a month, that is about $20 to $2,000.
Three things decide where you land: your niche, where your viewers live and how long your videos are. Brand deals, memberships and Super Chat come on top.
CPM and RPM, in plain words
Two numbers decide what YouTube pays you.
- CPM is what advertisers pay for every 1,000 ads shown on your videos.
- RPM is what you keep for every 1,000 views. It is lower, because YouTube keeps a share and not every view shows an ad. It is the number that matters.
Your niche matters most
Finance earns about 6 times what gaming does for the same viewers.
Advertisers pay most to reach people making money decisions, so finance pays $15 to $45 for every 1,000 ads. Technology and education pay $6 to $22. Gaming and entertainment pay $2 to $8, because their viewers are younger. The niche table above has every rate.
Views beat rate. A gaming channel with 10 million views a month earns far more than a finance channel with 100,000.
Where your viewers live
A view from the United States can earn 10 times one from India.
Advertisers pay most in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and Norway, so two channels with the same views can earn very different amounts. Change where your viewers live in the calculator to see yours.
Video length
At 8 minutes, a video can show ads partway through, not only at the start.
The calculator counts those extra breaks as about 60% more money per view. A 15-minute video might show 2 or 3 of them, which is why many creators aim for 10 to 15 minutes.
Income beyond ads
Creators who earn well usually earn from more than one place.
Brand deals
Brands pay for the views a sponsored video gets: about $6 to $50 for every 1,000, by niche. So a video with 20,000 views might earn $120 to $1,000. Most brands start at about 1,000 subscribers.
Channel memberships
Fans pay monthly, often $4.99, and YouTube keeps 30%. Only people still watching join: about 3 to 15 for every 100,000 views a month, or 2 to 8 in every 1,000 subscribers if that is fewer.
Super Chat and Super Thanks
Viewers pay to highlight a message in a live stream, or to thank you on a video.
Merchandise and digital products
Sold through YouTube Shopping or your own store. The calculator leaves these out.
The Revenue streams tab adds up ads, brand deals, memberships and Super Chat for your channel.
Shorts and long videos
Shorts bring views, but pay far less for each one.
Shorts pay about $0.03 to $0.15 for every 1,000 views with viewers in many countries, and more where ads pay more. A video 8 minutes or longer pays about 11 times more per view for a gaming channel, and about 66 times more for a finance channel. Shorts still earn their place by bringing new viewers to your long videos. For Shorts on their own, use the YouTube Shorts Money Calculator.
Time of year
Ads pay about 40% more from October to December, and about 20% less from January to March.
Plan for January. Advertisers reset their budgets, so rates can drop about 40% from the holiday peak. Pick a time of year in the calculator to see it.

Frequently asked questions
What creators ask most about YouTube pay.
How much money do YouTubers make per 1,000 views?
Most YouTubers earn from under $1 to about $20 per 1,000 views (RPM) from ads. Your niche and where your viewers live matter most. With viewers mostly in the United States and videos 8 minutes or longer, finance channels earn about $6.60 to $19.80 per 1,000 views and gaming channels about $0.88 to $3.52. With viewers from many countries, both earn less than half that. Our calculator uses 2026 industry data to estimate your own range.
How much does YouTube pay for 1 million views?
For 1 million views, YouTube ads typically pay anywhere from about $200 to $20,000, depending on your niche and where your viewers live. A finance channel with viewers mostly in the United States could earn about $6,600 to $19,800, while a gaming channel with viewers from many countries might earn about $396 to $1,584. Use the calculator above to get an estimate for your own niche and viewers.
What is CPM and RPM on YouTube?
CPM means cost per mille, and mille is Latin for thousand: it is what advertisers pay for every 1,000 ads shown. RPM, revenue per mille, is what you keep for every 1,000 views after YouTube takes its 45% share. RPM is always lower than CPM because not every view shows an ad. The breakdown under the calculator shows both for your channel.
How many views do I need to make $1,000 per month on YouTube?
It depends on your niche and where your viewers live. With viewers mostly in the United States and videos 8 minutes or longer, a finance channel needs about 75,800 views a month on average, while a gaming channel needs about 455,000. With viewers from many countries it takes about 2.2 times as many: about 169,000 views for finance and 1.02 million for gaming. Enter your own goal in the Goal tab above to see the number for your niche.
Do YouTube Shorts pay the same as regular videos?
No. Shorts typically pay $0.03 to $0.15 per 1,000 views with viewers from many countries, and more where ads pay more. A regular video 8 minutes or longer pays several times more per view: our calculator puts the gap at about 11 times for a gaming channel and about 66 times for a finance channel. The Shorts comparison under the calculator shows the gap for your own channel.
How much do YouTubers make from brand deals?
Brands pay for the views a sponsored video gets, usually about $6 to $50 for every 1,000 views depending on the niche. So a sponsored video with 20,000 views might earn $120 to $1,000, and one with 200,000 views $1,200 to $10,000. Bigger channels earn more per deal because their videos get more views, and most brands start at about 1,000 subscribers. The Revenue streams tab above estimates brand deal income alongside ads, memberships, and Super Chat.
Does YouTube pay more in certain countries?
Yes, a lot. Advertisers pay the most for viewers in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, and Norway. In our calculator a view from the United Kingdom earns about 85% of what a view from the United States earns, Germany about 70%, Brazil about 20%, and India about 10%. Pick where your viewers live in the calculator above to see your own range.
How accurate is this YouTube money calculator?
Our calculator uses 2026 industry-average CPM and RPM data compiled from publicly available sources. It gives estimated ranges, not exact figures, because actual earnings depend on many factors including ad format, viewer demographics, time of year, and content type. We show a low and a high figure rather than a single number to give you a realistic picture. For your exact numbers, check YouTube Analytics.
When does YouTube pay the most? Is there a best time to post?
Ads pay the most from October to December, when holiday advertising peaks. In our calculator that quarter pays about 40% more than a typical month, while January to March pays about 20% less and is usually the slowest time of year. Pick a time of year in the calculator to see how your earnings change. The best time to post is when your own viewers are online, which YouTube Analytics shows under Audience.
How can I increase my YouTube earnings?
The most effective ways to increase YouTube earnings are:
- Make content in higher paying niches like finance, technology, or education.
- Reach viewers in higher paying countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
- Make videos 8 minutes or longer so they can carry mid-roll ads.
- Add brand deals, memberships, and Super Chat.
- Grow your subscriber base through creator collaborations on platforms like CollabPals, where over 383,000 creators help each other grow organically.
How much does YouTube pay per view?
YouTube ads pay a fraction of a cent per view: usually from under $0.001 to about $0.02, depending on your niche and where your viewers live. That is under $1 to about $20 per 1,000 views (RPM). The per-view amount is small, which is why successful creators focus on growing total views and adding brand deals and memberships.
How much does YouTube pay for 100,000 views?
For 100,000 views, YouTube ads typically pay about $20 to $2,000, depending on your niche and where your viewers live. A finance channel with viewers mostly in the United States could earn about $660 to $1,980, while a gaming channel with viewers from many countries might earn about $40 to $158. Use the calculator above to get an estimate for your own channel.
